Kendrick Perkins Calls Rajon Rondo and Russell Westbrook Divas 'In a Good Way'

In a recent interview with Justin Verrier of ESPN.com, Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins described current teammate Russell Westbrook as a "diva." He bestowed the same moniker upon ex-teammate Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics.

[Russell] Westbrook's physicality, owed to a long and muscular frame, is unlike most other point guards, Perkins said. His approach is also unique, but it does bear some resemblance to that of enigmatic Celtic Rajon Rondo, the center's former floor leader and a player known as much for his surly in-game demeanor as his deft dishes.

Here at B/R, we aren't quite sure what Perkins means by "divas...in a good way." Although Westbrook and Rondo are two of the more polarizing figures in the NBA, neither strike the image of Madonna on a rampage.

Westbrook will never be confused for someone who masks his emotions. Whether on the court or off of it, Westbrook has quite the ostentatious personality.

If not his clothing or singing, perhaps Perkins was referring to the fact that Westbrook likes to rain on everyone else's parade. The "anything that isn't my happiness is no one's happiness at all" approach.

Still nothing? This is getting weirder than the fact that the national media cares about a linebacker with a fake girlfriend.

Regardless of what it is that sparked these comments, Perkins has made them and they are forever in the massive spider's web known as the Internet. For what it's worth, Westbrook has displayed no signs of being offended.

In fact, in his most recent game, Rondo went off for his fourth triple-double of the 2012-13 half-season. If nothing else, Perk's comments have inspired greatness out of his former teammate.

Both divas—Rondo and Westbrook—were named to their respective 2013 NBA All-Star squads. The Celtics point guard leads the league in assists, while Westbrook is in the midst of a season in which he's averaging 22.7 points and 8.1 assists.
