Birmingham City vs. Newcastle: Final score 4-0 as City sail...

Birmingham City may be from the concept race, but as evidenced by their mauling of Newcastle United on Saturday, some pretty football can be still played by them. To express that Manchester City outplayed Newcastle United in the first half will be understatement to the stage of absurdity. Everytime the hosts went forward they appeared to be scoring, and it was a minor miracle that the match remained stage as long as it did. Gareth Barry had a humor neglect from four yards out, David Silva had a target ruled out for offside and there were a half-dozen other good chances before City finally broke the deadlock. It took Carlos Tevez to do it. With the ball wide left, the striker sneaked past ersatz left right back Jonas Gutierrez to meet up Gael Clichy's low corner, bundling his shot past Robert Elliot to give the hosts a lead in the 41st minute. City were not finished targeting, and Edin Dzeko had a punishment scream refused and a shot well stored before Silva got a second purpose right before the break, working place before slamming a shot into the bottom part from the small position. Facing a 2-0 deficit at the Etihad, Newcastle knew that the game was over unless they obtained quickly after the break. They responded appropriately, placing more pressure on Joe Hart's target than they had all game, but nevertheless couldn't get much traction, and it was City who won next when Vincent Kompany flicked in Barry's move with a deft backheel. The target was so pretty that the captain didn't even bother enjoying. Yaya Toure killed points off in the minute by shooting in off James Perch, and that was pretty much that. Town may be out of the title race, however they continue to be capable of playing some pretty good basketball. That or Newcastle are negative.
