Zack Greinke Injury: Upgrades on Dodgers Star's Collarbone

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke suffered a broken left collarbone Thursday evening after fending off Carlos Quention while the slugger angrily billed the mound, according to Dodgers.com. Dodgers.com tweeted on Thursday: Dodgers.com added: The injury to Greinke came following a benches-clearing brawl against the North Park Padres. Greinke beaned Padres outfielder Quentin in the neck with a pitch in the top of the sixth inning and Quentin charged the mound. This can be a huge blow to the Dodgers right out of the gate. La inked Greinke to a, $147 million offer in December, hoping he is actually a strong No. 2 starter behind left-hander Clayton Kershaw in the rotation. Greinke, who was simply named an All-Star last year, submitted a 3.48 ERA. 1.20 WHIP and 200 strikeouts in 212.1 innings last season with the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Angels. That involved a combined 15-5 record with both groups. Greinke's first time in 2013 with the Dodgers on April 5 contrary to the Pittsburgh Pirates was successful. He helped zero runs on two hits in 6.1 innings while notching six strikeouts in the 3-0 win. The right-hander was charged with two runs in five innings from the Padres on Thursday. The Dodgers have started 6-3 to begin the 2013 plan, but losing Greinke for a prolonged period of time figures to hurt the club, especially considering right-hander Josh Beckett has fought in the rotation since coming over to La in a blockbuster deal last August. One thing's for sure: The others of the turn must intensify with Greinke out.
