Chelsea FC flop Fernando Torres a target for Fiorentina? - Crunchsports.com

Fiorentina have played down reports suggesting they could make a move for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres this summer.

Torres has largely struggled since joining Chelsea from Liverpool over two years in a record £50million deal but has scored 20 goals this season.

The Spain international has been linked with a return to former club Atletico Madrid as speculation builds that the Blues could swoop for Radamel Falcao.

Reports in Italy this week have suggested Fiorentina are also considering a bid for the 29-year-old, but sporting director Daniele Prade has hinted that the forward would be out of their price range.

Fiorentina's technical director, Eduardo Macia, has admitted that Torres is an attractive target, telling Corriere dello Sport: "He is a symbol. He is a player on a par with excellence, the one who plays only to win.

"[Dimitar] Berbatov too last summer asked to come to Fiorentina through the United leadership. But then, during the air travel, everything happened."
