This week we have been tracking the trade talk of Seahawks' back up quarterback Matt Flynn and his potential trade to the Raiders. Today, those trade talks have cooled down a bit so we do not know for sure if that trade will happen. However, the Raiders have possibly made a plan if they do not land Flynn.
Adam Caplan reports that the Raiders have interest in former Cardinals and Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb. Kolb was released by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this month. Kolb has had trouble staying healthy in his career. In 2009, he lost his starting job with the Eagles to Michael Vick because of a suffered concussion. Vick turned out to be a huge success in 2009 with the Eagles. The 28 year old Kolb has thrown 28 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in his career.
The Raiders have just $2.8 million in cap space and may damage their chances of landing Flynn who is owed $2 million in 2013. The Raiders want Flynn to restructure his contract so that it will help with slary cap purposes. If Flynn refuses to do so, then the Raiders will look into signing Kolb.
As I reported earlier this week, Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer, will refuse to take a pay cut resulting in him being released from the team. Palmer's 2013 salary is $13 million that the Raiders will not pay. If Palmer is released, he could end up where Kolb just came from. The Arizona Cardinals. The three quarterbacks are running in circles.
