Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak: Amnestying Kobe Bryant No Option for LA

La Lakers general director Mitch Kupchak has addressed the idea that the team might amnesty Kobe Bryant after his Achilles tendon was torn by him from the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. He's said that it is not an alternative. While the Lakers look in four instructions at once, still wanting to make their way into the playoffs while simultaneously addressing a really serious situation for their team, Kupchak and the Lakers haven't even mentioned the idea that amnestying Kobe will be a choice. This really is demonstrably something that would have to be addressed eventually, particularly given the agreement that the Lakers have to cover Kobe on the course of next period. Bill Simmons brought it up while pointing out that it would save the Lakers a ton of money after taking their luxurious tax into account, and the thought has only kind of elope the tracks from there. Kobe is owed just over $30 million next season, which Los Angeles would have to spend most of no matter his standing with the team. They would pay the difference between his total agreement and whatever he signs for with a new staff. The reality with Kobe is very distinctive from the reality with any person in the NBA. Regardless of the undeniable fact that he can miss nearly all of next season (the current forecast is six-to-nine months), amnestying him would do more detrimental to the team than good. There are as Kobe fans a ton of Lakers fans who identify, and a shift that would jettison him from the team would be described as a public relations problem for La. Is there possible that it occurs? We've learned in sports to never say never. But that is Kobe Bryant. His value to the Lakers team transcends what he gives on the court. And for folks who think he'll not return in primary form, remember the past time you questioned No. 24? He does.
