City's 'new Vidic' will undoubtedly be better than the first! Keegan hails faultless... - Daily Mail

UPDATED: 01:14 EST, 11 April 2013 Kevin Keegan feels Manchester City have uncovered a defense with the capacity of being a lot better than Nemanja Vidic in other Serb Matija Nastasic. The 20-year-old has been among the stand-out artists for City this season and seems certain to partner skipper Vincent Kompany in main protection for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea. Keegan has certainly been impressed with the A12million signing from Fiorentina. Award guy: Matija Nastasic has more than exceeded expectation in his first time at Manchester City 'I enjoy him,' said Keegan. 'He has come in and played like he's been there permanently. That Mancini put him in for his debut against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu tells you anything you need to find out about him. 'In five or six years time you could see him developing into a Vidic. He could become even bigger than Vidic, who has probably been the very best centre half in this place the past five or six years. Pedigree: Kevin Keegan believes Nastasic may come to be better than United's Serbia star Nemanja Vidic 'The major test can come next season when folks have had a good look at him. They will decide to try and find out what he's negative at and where his weaknesses are. I have not seen too many at the moment.' Nastastic may be the one positive from Roberto Mancini's summer signings, with Maicon, Javi Garcia, Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclair all failing woefully to have the effect predicted. That poor employment policy is one of many reasons why Mancini's tenure as City chef is said to be under consideration, even though he was accountable for finishing a 35-year trophy drought when he won the FA Cup in 2011 and followed that up with last season's important Premier League title success.
