Borussia Dortmunds Marcel Schmelzer broke his nose against ...

The BVB left back broke his nose after being kicked in the face by Martin Harnik on Saturday. However, he is hoping to be included in the squad for the Malaga match.

Borussia Dortmund will travel to Spain on Wednesday for their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match against Malaga. The match will be BVB's first quarterfinal appearance in the Champions League since the 1996-97 season when they made a run to the semifinals.

While they will already be making the trip without starting centerback Mats Hummels who is still recovering from an ankle injury, BVB received good word on Sunday that several players that picked up knocks against Stuttgart on Saturday will be available for selection. Marco Reus (ribs), Sven Bender (foot), Lukasz Piszczek (hip), and Kevin Großkreutz (foot) are all expected to be in the squad and likely start on Wednesday.

The big question will be around Marcel Schmelzer. The left back suffered a broken nose after being kicked in the face by Stuttgart's Martin Harnik on Saturday. His nose was set, and he is hoping to wear a protective mask in order to feature in the quarterfinal match. If Schmelzer is unable to go, Jürgen Klopp may be forced to deploy Bender at left back and go with a different midfield combination.
