Previous Indianapolis Colts defensive stop Dwight Freeney has reportedly allowed us a two-year deal with the San Diego Chargers, as reported by NFL. com's Ian Rapoport.
Freeney, drafted from the Colts No. 11 overall inside 2002 NFL draft, solidified the defensive nucleus with the Colts teams of the last decade.
He went to help seven Pro Bowls, was selected on the NFL's All-Pro first power team on three occasions (2004, 2005, 2009) together with set the franchise record in sacks (107. 5) while playing with Indianapolis throughout the last 11 seasons.
The 6'1", 268-pound defender expressed his desire to stay with the power team but said he realizes that the nature of the bosses might not make this possible.
The Chargers scooped the dog up after his most unfortunate statistical performance of her career. He was a member of the old safeguard in Indy, the team that was built by the now-departed Costs Polian.
The writing was relating to the wall for 33-year-old as soon as Colts transitioned to the 3-4 defense over the 2012 offseason. Freeney spent the pioneer 10 years of his career aligned as a defensive end in a 4-3 scheme and is more suited for this role.
