The Reds go into tomorrow's second leg against Zenit St Petersburg 2-0 down following their flop in Russia last week.
"We have to show character from the beginning, especially in the first 15-20 minutes to get the people right behind us, but then they will lift us in the weak moments as they always do.
"The fact it is a night game makes it different. Supporters come to the game more excited. It's difficult to explain, but there's a different kind of atmosphere.
"Everybody knows about Anfield on a European night and I can tell you from experience, it's very impressive when you play against Liverpool at Anfield."
Liverpool need to score three goals to see off the Russians in normal time — and Reina admits the Reds cannot afford to concede.
He added: "The mentality of the players is different when you go into a game like this because you know you have to win by two or three goals.
"90 minutes is a long period of time and we have to make sure we defend well first and then we will have the chances.
"2-0 is a very tough result to overturn, but if there is one place that can do it, it's Anfield — there is no doubt about that."
Reina ranks Liverpool's win over Chelsea in the 2007 Champions League semi-final as his best-ever atmosphere at Anfield.
"Although it was not 2-0, it was 1-0, it was a difficult result and history could have been different if they'd scored in the first few minutes or so.
