"From the initial moment of the next half we found a big change of attitude. We didn't win because of the alterations, which were made in the twelfth minute of the second half, but because of the change we made. It was the attitude of all of the participants that sparked the comeback.
"It does work that actually he [Kaka] is playing well. He is helped by his state of mind and this is important for the group, that he's playing well and that he's another alternative. That's always positive.
Kaka's performance also earned the reward of assistant mentor Aitor Karanka, who had been happy with the reaction of the team after going behind to a Riki attack on 35 minutes.
"We knew that Deportivo were not playing well and saw us being an chance to change their fortunes. In the 2nd half we improved our play, we scored two goals and we could get the three points house or apartment with us."
