Aren't the inventors in the suits supposed to be the ones who say the many right things? Not inside the European Golf Tour, where its chief executive, George O'Grady (pictured, a lot left), enmeshed himself inside Tiger Woods-Sergio Garcia feud inside of a most embarrassing way.
Garcia not surprisingly went overboard on Saturday, saying that if your dog served Tiger Woods dinner it becomes "fried chicken. " Many consider a racist remark, and Garcia apologized, instances. Lots of folks figured which might finally end their feud (which times to 1999), but apparently these folks were wrong.
The European Tour has didn't punish Garcia for that fried chicken remark, which he made at the European Tour Awards Evening meal in London. That left O'Grady prepared to take charges that the Tour had been too cozy with Garcia. In a very statement denying this, O'Grady constructed things worse. Key excerpt:
"We know the connotation in the united states. We accept all races relating to the European Tour, we bring it very strongly. Most of Sergio's close friends are coloured athletes in the states and he is unquestionably abject in his apology and we accepted it. "
O'Grady later apologised for while using the term "coloured", saying: "I deeply regret using an inappropriate word in a good live interview for Sky Sports is actually I unreservedly apologise. "

That's the problem if you have a controversy that actually reaches across oceans and ranges different cultures and sensibilities. Garcia is actually Spanish, and was speaking around Britain about an American golfer with roots in the U. S. and Thailand. That's lots of different opportunities to mess up. But O'Grady is actually paid to negotiate of which landscape. He should fully understand better.
